Biography

Dr. Pfund develops experimental apparatus, instrumentation, procedures and data analysis methods for the Fluid Dynamics Group at Battelle. Areas of interest include microchannel systems, gas-solids flows, supercritical fluids, and ultrasonic diagnostic methods. Before joining Battelle, Dr. Pfund was a thermodynamicist with experience in both experimental and computational research. He is experienced in X-ray, infrared and NMR spectroscopic and molecular dynamics studies of solvation and aggregation in supercritical fluids. He has a background in process, high-pressure equipment, instrumentation and control, and laser optics systems design and fabrication. Dr. Pfund was presented the 1997 Green Chemistry Challenge Award certificate from the EPA, for participation in a team which designed surfactants for use in carbon dioxide.
